day 1: It’s that time of year again!

November 1, 2010

National Blog Post Month or NaBloPoMo for short! If you recall last year, I gave this crazy idea of blogging everyday for a month a shot and actually succeeded.  Considering my rather abismal job of blogging this fall, I figured this might be just the ticket to get me posting again.

Blurry, but awesome picture taken by Sara, another concert goer on Sunday night.

So for today’s post I figured I would recap the AWESOME concert Becca and I went to see last night.  We heard “Sigh No More” “White Blank Page” and in case you haven’t guessed it by now, the best band ever* Mumford & Sons.  They played at the Riviera Theatre here in Chicago and their tight harmonies, passionate intensity, skilled musicianship, literary lyrics and unique ability to get a whole audience dancing to what is essentially a folk band (guitar, keyboard, banjo and upright bass) created a rocking show.

Despite my keen interest in dancing along to their music, standing in a pulsing inebriated group of youngsters (“Get off my darn lawn!”) for 4 hours held little appeal.  Luckily Becca and I got their early enough to score excellent balcony seats, so I thoroughly enjoyed myself from the comfort of my toe-tapping seat.  Anyways on the off chance that Mumford & Sons happens through your neck of the woods anytime soon, I highly suggest you get yourself a ticket, I think they are only going to get more popular during the coming years.  Anyways I will finish off with another of their music videos, which I also think helps capture a bit of their attitude (and is one of my favorite of their songs).

*okay, okay slight exageration, but still pretty much amazing

  1. More blog posts! It looks like a good time was had by all (the band included!)

  2. So jealous! What an awesome band….they came to Denver, but the show sold out in minutes.

I was toying with the idea of blogging every day in November, but I already failed b/c I didn’t post yesterday. I still might try to write every day but the 1st day of nov. 🙂

  3. Looking forward to it! Blog on.

  4. Yes, it was a pretty amazing night; I think Roll Away Your Stone was my all time favorite of the evening, though.

  5. Jess – glad you approve! and you totally have to come with us next time the band is in town!
Emily – Do it anyway! I would love to read a daily post from you all November long.
    Dad – Thanks!
Becca – Oh yeah, that one was great too! I mean who am I kidding I think I loved them all 🙂

  6. I AM SO JEALOUS! And happy for you, of course. BUT JEALOUS! Eeeeeee! I can’t believe you got to see them live! I am definitely going to keep an eye on their calendar this year and get tickets this time.
Anyway, it sounds amazing, and good luck with NaBloPoMo!
