Weekend round-up

May 11, 2009

Wow, this weekend flew by, but then they tend to do that these days.  And all the weekends coming up in May are going to be no exception.

  • Next weekend there is Tim’s gallery opening down at Starved Rock and a chance to catch up with relatives.  Then back up to Chicago for time with the parents and some Green Festival browsing.
  • The weekend after that is the RPF retreat during which I will lead a seminar on the spiritual practice of bread baking, which has me thinking I should maybe bake some more as practice.
  • Then the last weekend of May is Girl’s Weekend in Michigan City! Which will involve, some shopping, lots of hot-tubbing, a chance to try Miriam’s lentil tacos, some cheese fondue, probably a movie, and lots and lots of laughter.

So there you go, June is practically upon us, which also means school is almost over!  Oddly enough my graduate classes are already starting summer classes, which means I have my 3rds straight semester of Monday night classes starting today.  But this one I am kinda excited about seeing as it is Young Adult Literature, which means no textbooks, just lots of books for teenagers all summer long!  Among other great books I will be reading I also will be required to watch the movie Twilight, which I was kinda looking for an excuse to watch anyways.

But anyways this past weekend was a really good one, with two birthday parties and a day trip to the dunes.  Here are some of my favorite photos:

Girls, cake and wine, what more does one need for brilliant conversation?

This is probably the part where I told everyone about a certain brother and his interest in recording tapes of rather interesting subjects (sorry Tim!) :)

Andrea also came home from college for the weekend and totally surprised Jess, it was brilliant!

I think Kara's expression in this is one of my favorite parts of this shot.

Just one of a long series of these shots.

This is probably my hands down favorite shot of the day. All I did to it in photoshop was straighten the horizon line a smidge and use auto contrast. What beautiful friends I have.

So we climbed around on the dunes, while it was sprinkling and what do you know my feet got a smidge dirty.

After climbing around on dunes and wading in the water, what better to do than sit in a covered pavillion and blow bubbles.
