go read this poem

January 28, 2008

and then come back here and tell me what you thought of it

“My father believed we are here to lift logs
that can’t be lifted, to hammer steel nails
so bent they crack when we hit them.”
“What My Father Believed” by John Guzlowski, from Lightning And Ashes.

For some reason it perfectly captures my mood this dreary Monday morning.  Plus it is achingly beautiful and has lines in it from some of my favorite hymns.

  1. That is a beautiful poem. The last stanza brought tears to my eyes (as all such poems and reflections do nowadays), and the last line is a hard truth. If your looking for analytical stuff I can’t help you, but I think that is a valuable poem.

  2. I am glad you liked it, I thought you might.
